YS Wildlife Habitat

The YS Wildlife Habitat Community initiative seeks to encouraging residents and local leaders to rethink landscapes, use sustainable practices, and add native trees and plants, water, and shelter, to yards, gardens and Village land.

Gifts to this fund will support the Habitat Team’s activities including the community wide Earth Day event and Garden Tour along with various forms of support for organizations and schools through educational literature, stewardship activities, property habitat certification activities and educational/outreach events and workshops.

To date, Yellow Springs/Miami Township is currently 1 of 3 certified habitat communities in Ohio with the National Wildlife Federation (certified since 2020). There are also 118 properties individually certified as wildlife habitats in Yellow Springs & Miami Township with the National Wildlife Federation.
