Since 1959, the Yellow Springs Senior Citizens Center has focused on meeting the needs of people 55 and older in Yellow Springs and Miami Township. Located in its own building in the Yellow Springs business district, the Center is governed by a 9-member board of trustees, elected by the membership. A part-time director, a part-time financial assistant, and several part-time staff members provide services and manage and oversee programs. Volunteers give more than 3,800 hours of service per year in support of seniors in the community.
Visitors to the Center are quick to notice the diversity represented by our members. They soon perceive the attributes we have in common—our commitment to helping others, our desire to make a difference, the dedication with which we pursue our many interests and activities, our innovative spirit.
The services we provide to seniors include: health programs, transportation, homemaker services, meals, information and referral, and social programs.
