Simply Women Ohio supports three primary goals:
- To increase the participation of girls in sports and an overall lifestyle of health and fitness
- To demonstrate and emphasize how being part of a team or group of fitness-minded women can be fun and build a sense of community
- Develop broader support structures in the Yellow Springs community for young women participating in sports and other healthy activities
Our activities focus on these goals and include our annual 5k event, celebrating the leadership of a YSHS female identified athlete and also educational programs for girls in middle/high school in collaboration with Yellow Springs Schools, 365 Project, the Human Relations Commission, and the Yellow Springs Police Department. We also collaborate with school and community based athletic teams around events, uniforms, and other identified needs. SWO also partners with the YS Fems-Strong Girls Club. YS Fems-Strong Girls Club is a group that was formed in McKinney Jr. High/YSHS and shares many of the same goals and values for female identifying students.
