This scholarship was created by the Eric Smith, a Yellow Springs High School alumnus from the class of 2000 and also a member of the National Honor Society, to provide a tiny bit of help for a student who plans to be a computer programmer. This scholarship is given in a one-time lump sum of up to $750 and can be used to pay for any part of the recipient’s college education. The Applicant 1) must be a graduating Yellow Spring High School senior 2) must be scheduled to start college in the fall with a computer programming related major such as (but not limited to): Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering. The Applicant must have a GPA in math of at least 3.5 as well as an overall GPA of at least 3.0. Taking a computer programming class in high school is not required. Having experience with at least one programming language is not required, but is highly recommended.
