The purpose of this Fund shall be to honor the memory of Chris Sparks by providing funds to support scholarships to be awarded to graduates of Yellow Springs High School. Chris Sparks was a leader of the Class of 1967 7th Grade class. He was a gifted athlete, intelligent, courageous and charismatic. He was a champion of the underdog and included everyone: boy and girl, black and white, athlete and scholar, popular and outcast. His life ended before his social justice values, nurtured in Yellow Springs, could transform society.
The Founding Contributors established the Award for the purpose of recognizing and rewarding ‘leadership promoting social justice and inclusivity in YSHS and the community”.
