Darryl R. Dewer Memorial Scholarship

Darryl R. Dewer left a resounding legacy that impacted the students of Yellow Springs Schools, Greene County Career Center and our community.  Serving his community filled Darryl’s heart, and giving back to others before giving to himself inspired his actions.  His endless support as a bus driver, fan of Yellow Springs athletics, and advocacy of the Arts created lasting relationships with every student, teacher, coach and parent he met, and will never be forgotten.

In his honor, Yellow Springs High School will award up to $500 scholarship to one senior entering an accredited two- or four-year institution of higher learning.  Applicants must have accomplished a minimum of 150 hours of community service, complete the required application, and submit an essay (500 words or less) addressing the following three questions:

  • Why is community service important?
  • How has serving others in the community impacted my life?
  • How have my community service actions impacted the lives of others?
