The James A. McKee Scholarship was established in 2001 by the James A. McKee Group in honor of the first African American police chief of a predominantly white community. One or two scholarships are awarded up to $1000, or more, to a graduate of YSHS with a GPA over 2.5, who has demonstrated leadership, community service, definite career goals and is highly motivated to succeed. Minorities, women, and students with unusual economic need are strongly encouraged to apply. Application forms can be obtained from the Guidance Office or any member of the James A. McKee Group. Applicants will need to complete the form, write a short essay, and obtain two recommendation letters.
